A dryer is an element that consumes large amounts of energy, and using its properties rationally will help to reduce this consumption.

– Before transferring it to the dryer, spin the linen enough to ensure that the resulting residual moisture is as low as possible.

– Load the dryer with the right amount of linen. Overloading the dryer only causes more creased linen and lengthens the drying cycles. If linen does not float enough in the hot air flow, the air cannot flow through it and extract enough moisture from the fabrics.

– In terms of the most suitable load ratio, for medium capacity dryers a ratio of 1/28 would be ideal, with a 1/25 ratio recommended. For Dry cleaning or Wet cleaning processes, the ratio is usually 1/50. In high capacity dryers with a large drum diameter this ratio may decrease, though never lower than 1/20.

– Check the lint filter and fume exhaust ducts on a regular basis. Dirty filters slow down the drying process and increase energy consumption. It is important to remember that air flow is as important as temperature.

– Group fabrics together according to their composition and type, thus preventing linen from emerging extremely dry or wet.

– Establish a proper fume outlet to prevent unwanted condensation.

– Dryers are machines with a high risk of fire. Take great care in order to prevent any such risk. Always program cooling cycles. Keep the machines and their surroundings clean and clear, and avoid storing flammable items nearby.
